What I Believe (Most Days)
Instruments and people have memory. My job is to listen, not to fix. Sometimes I find ghosts in the material. It’s not my place to expel them, just to make room and let them speak.
Recording is an indulgence. But it’s a generous one. It's time given freely, not time wasted.
Genre is both architecture and accident. So is theory.
Musicianship matters. Sound matters. Takes matter. The mic and where you put it matters. Clarity is earned, not applied.
There’s something in the near miss, the phrase you almost land, the voicing that almost breaks down.
Music gives nothing back. Whether it treats you well or not, it still takes the years. So have fun.
